This
exciting, stylish, sexy show, takes you on a journey - both
physical and spiritual, reflecting upon the Roshni, light
of our hearts.
Using light and shade, soft and brash, it’s a real emotional
mix.
The rich vibrant colours of the sub-continent bring a rainbow
of light to the stage.
The colours, the sounds, and with incense hanging in the air,
the smells, all hitting your senses, brings a touch of Bombay
to Brum.
Make-up artists Mark and Sarah have devised some spectacular
styles, reflecting the beauty and colours of the costumes.
Hina Chavda, her sister Trina
and several other principle dancers make up Hina and Co. They
are supported on stage by young dancers from St Chad’s Church,
and pupils from Christ The King school.
Hina has taught every one of the dancers and choreographed
the show, in a remarkably short space of time. The youngest
performer is just six years old.
The show provides something for all tastes. Classic Indian
dance, mixed with contemporary music and moves.
Bells, handclaps and foot stamps - created percussion sounds
any orchestra would die for!
I think Hina’s Spanish dance is the highlight of the show
- with the passion of the flamenco brought to life by Hina’s
expressive, intricate hand movements and gestures, and those
flying feet!
The finale is performed to Gareth Gates and The Kumars mainstream
version of Spirit In The Sky, the BBC Comic Relief song from
last year. All the performers are on stage in an explosion
of colour that looks gorgeous.
So roll on more performances - oh and watch out West End -
The Brummies are coming!
