The Secret of Year Six is a 10-minute drama that examines the impact of a tragic school event on the lives of two adults, Mike and Valerie, now aged 30 and reluctantly attending a class reunion.

To clear up the misunderstanding between them, Mike takes Valerie back in time to tell her the story of how his best friend Abdelkadar, ended up shooting and killing his older brother, Ali.

Director: Francois Gandolfi

Francois directed his first short for Screen West Midlands as part of their First Cut strand, aimed at first time filmmakers.

Francois also has wide experience as a director and editor on many factual TV programmes (with Maverick Television) and was Assistant Editor on the feature film, Nasty Neighbours. Francois is currently directing a new series for Channel 4.

Producer: Helen Jenks

Helen has been working in television for the past eight years. She has worked for production companies in Los Angeles, London and has been based in Birmingham for the past four years.

She has worked on a variety of programmes ranging from Question Time for the BBC to two series with renowned chef Keith Floyd. Helen is currently Production Manager on a new series for Channel 4.

Writer: Andy Conway

The script was written by Birmingham- based screenwriter Andy Conway, whose fiction has been published in a variety of anthologies, and who is currently writing a feature film treatment for British director John Humphreys and Hollywood producer/ screenwriter Brian Lapan.
