'Brown Paper Bag' - the first film release by Birmingham's Dreamfinder productions has been awarded third place in the prestigious TCM Classic Shorts competition.

Bearwood based Dreamfinder were presented with a trophy, last night at the National Film Theatre. They will also receive a cheque for £2000.

The competition was judged by many famous names, including: Bernardo Bertolucci, Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes, Barry Norman and Stephen Frears.

'Brown Paper Bag'
Their winning entry 'Brown Paper Bag' stars Ronnie Fox (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Bouncer) and Jo McInnes (Playing The Field), it was directed by Michael Clifford.

The film follows Ronnie Fox's character as he wakes up to the effects of his alcoholism.

The drama is Birmingham based - many of the scenes were filmed at the Cricketers pub in Edgbaston.

'Brown Paper Bag's producer Natasha Carlish commented on their win:

"We are especially pleased as the standard of films were really high... Both the other winners were London based, so another victory for the West Mids!!"

Winners
'The Most Beautiful Man in the World', directed by Alicia Duffy was awarded first place, second place went to 'The Bypass' directed by Amit Kumar.

Turner Classic Movies Shorts is one of the most valuable short film competitions in Europe, awarding £10,000 in prize money. This year the competition received 320 entries.

Brown Paper Bag will be broadcast on the Turner Classic Movie Channel on the 6th and 7th of November 2003.
