"enough is enough."

An open air community event will take place at Aston Villa football ground (Trinity stand) on Sunday 19th January 2003. The free event follows the tragic deaths of Charlene Ellis and Latisha Shakespeare who were shot dead outside a party in Aston, Birmingham, on Thursday 2nd January 2003.

Young people from all communities will be given the opportunity to be heard, through poems, songs and dance.

UK garage/RnB artist, Ms Dynamite and Soul Diva Beverley Knight will be topping the bill of performances on the day.

There will also be contributions from Pastor Calvin Young, Council of Black-led Churches, and the Bishop of Birmingham, Rt. Rev John Sentumu.

This is an event with a message by young people. Wherever there are guns, wherever there is violence, youth are crying life not death.
Andi Thomas - Leader of Aston Community Youth Project

The youth of Aston Community will be leading the occasion which will start at 2pm and finish at 4.30pm. Gates will open at 12.30pm and everyone should be seated by 1.30pm.

Aston Villa football club have donated the stadium for the community event, which is hoping to attract over 10,000 people and be the biggest ever held in the UK.

Everyone from all communities, all over the country is invited to come along and say in one voice, ‘Enough is Enough’.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Road -

From the North: Use Motorway M6. Leave the motorway at junction 7 and follow the southbound A34 Walsall Road. Take a left towards the University of Central England and then follow the signs for the A4040 to Witton. Taking the first left at the main roundabout, follow the signs towards Villa Park.

From the South: Use Motorway M6. Leave the motorway at junction 6 and follow signs to Birmingham taking the A38(M). From the A38(M) take the first slip road on the left towards Aston. At the roundabout take the first exit (signed to Villa Park). At the next roundabout take the first left onto the A5127. At the first junction turn left onto Witton Lane and follow signs to Villa Park.

From the East: Use Motorway M1, junction 21 to connect to the M6 at junction 4A, alternatively join the M6 via M1 junction 21 and the M69. Travel northbound on the M6 to junction 6. Leave the motorway and follow signs to Birmingham taking the A38(M). From the A38(M) take the first slip road on the left towards Aston. At the roundabout take the first exit (signed to Villa Park). At the next roundabout take the first left onto the A5127. At the first junction turn left onto Witton Lane and follow signs to Villa Park.

By Rail -
From Birmingham New Street Station, change for Witton or Aston. This is a local service and takes about 5 minutes to reach Aston station or 10 minutes to Witton station. From Aston station the ground is about 10 minutes walk. From Witton station it's about 3 minutes walk.

By Bus -
From Birmingham City Centre catch West Midlands Travel Bus No 7 to Witton. The bus will stop at Trinity Road or Witton Island. You can also catch the 102 or 104 buses as these will drop you on Lichfield Road about 10 mins away from the ground.
