The cast of The Two Towers

Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen)
Aragorn
Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) is a nobleman who joins Frodo's quest to destroy the Ring. He is divided between his existence as a Ranger and his future as a King (he is the heir to the throne of Gondor), Aragorn helps Frodo to fulfill his task.

Gandalf (Ian McKellen) nearly died in "The Fellowship Of The Ring", during a battle with the fiery Balrog. In The Two Towers the wizard returns with greater power.

Sam (Sean Astin) and Frodo (Elijah Wood)
Sam and Frodo
Sam (Sean Astin) takes on a more heroic role in The Two Towers; as Frodo falls under the dark spell of the Ring, Sam keeps the faith.

Frodo (Elijah Wood) received the powerful Ring from his uncle, Bilbo Baggins, and must destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom, where it was forged.

Galadriel, Queen of Lothlorien (Kate Blanchet) is the 'Lady Of The Light/Queen Of Elves'.

Arwen (Liv Tyler) is torn between her love for Aragorn and her destiny as an immortal elf - a story line that comes from an appendix by Tolkien.

Legolas (Orlando Bloom)
Legolas
Legolas (Orlando Bloom), a very prominent figure in the three films. He is a warrior elf, who has super-human strength, swift reflexes, and heightened sensory awareness.

Saruman (Christopher Lee) has joined Sauron's quest for dominion. Once a great wizard, he is now Gandalf's nemesis, commanding the Uruk-hai troops that attack the humans at Helm's Deep.

Eomer (Karl Urban) leads a revolt against the Orcs and the merciless Uruk-hai, who are brutalizing mankind at Sauron's behest.

Eowyn (Miranda Otto)
Eowyn
Eowyn (Miranda Otto) is a Shieldmaiden of Rohan (the lady of Rohan). She is the daughter of Eomer.
As royalty of Rohan, she has been trained in swordsmanship and wants to test her skills and defend her country on the battlefield. Also, with Rohan's troops spread thin, Eowyn alone must lead Rohan's women and children to safety.
