FACTS

Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

During Ramadhan, Muslims are expected to fast from dawn to sunset.

Muslims must not eat or drink during daylight hours. They must refrain from bad deeds and do good works.

The days of Ramadhan are a time of reflection. Muslims think about their attitude towards life and faith and their good and bad deeds.

Contentment is the biggest thing that I have learnt from fasting. I've also experienced the feeling of suffering for those who go without food day everyday in the Third World.

Ramadhan is a special month to me because it is a very religious month and this is the month that you are most likely to be forgiven for your sins.

Ramadhan is a month of blessings and a time to ask for forgiveness, the month to wash away your sins and do good deeds in the way of Allah and also by helping the needy, supporting orphans and a time to donate more to charity.

What Ramadhan means to you ...

Iqbal Syed (Adult Education Teacher)
Ramadhan is a month to purify ourselves by practicing all aspects of worship. even it is scientifically proved that fasting has got physical, mental, social & financial values. Muslims mainly practice it to satisfy Allah as he promissed to give the reward for fasting by His own hands.

Now, I feel we are a family again praying and fasting in the name of ALLAH! This is my first year so, I hope I spelled everything correct. Mary X Thank you, Ramadhan Maurbark

Ramadan is a time of struggle, to change our behaviour so as to abandon those bad and sinful actions that we are accustomed to doing and strive to perform more good actions on a regular basis. This may include performing more prayers and giving in charity. Then when ramadan is over we must strive to maintain these levels of behaviour for the rest of the year.

From South Africa
Nice to know that I am fasting with fellow Muslims around the globe. It assists me in my religious obligation and in my objective of becoming more conscious of my creator - which of course is one of the main reasons for fasting - Ramadan Mubarak!
