Help playing audio/video The Airbus A380 landing at Birmingham Airport on Wednesday 9th September 2009 was one of the biggest events at the airport since Concorde made it's last visit nearly five years ago. When the world's largest commercial airliner touched down at Birmingham International Airport, hundreds if not thousands of spectators turned out with cameras, binoculars and even step ladders to ensure they got the best views. ![]() Plane spotter The airports Long Stay Car Park One provided great vantage points for the super jumbos arrival just after midday. However there was disappointment for those who had chosen Sheldon Country Park, which borders the opposite north end of the runway. Word amongst spotters was that its departure after 3 o'clock would be right over their heads, but alas they could only watch the back of the plane as the takeoff was in the opposite direction. Still many enthusiasts enjoyed it and drew comparisons with Concorde's visit. Midlands Today reporter Kevin Reide takes a look at both events.
