What would you like to see at the facility? ![]() Birmingham Aquatics and Leisure Centre These are the first computer generated images of how the Birmingham Aquatics and Leisure Centre may look if the £58 million development scheme goes ahead. The proposals are for a community leisure and swimming pool complex to be built on land owned by Birmingham City Council adjacent to Nelson Primary School on St Vincent Street. The centre will incorporate a 50m swimming pool and Olympic diving facility, a state-of-the-art leisure pool with rides and attractions, teaching pool, large fitness suite with exercise studio's, saunas and steam rooms, an eight court sports hall, a two-storey climbing wall and four five-a-side pitches. ![]() Birmingham Aquatics and Leisure Centre The complex, which will utilise part of the existing NIA car park, will also house a crèche, a soft play area, a café, community meeting rooms and a community policing room. The centre would then form part of Birmingham's Olympic legacy and act as a training centre for visiting teams. Birmingham City Council Cabinet approved the 50m pool complex last year after a series of option appraisals and feasibility reports were prepared. If work goes ahead, it is hoped the development will be completed ahead of the 2012 Olympics. The new plans will be on display to the public at Nelson Primary School located on King Edwards Road, between 4.00pm and 8.00 pm on Wednesday 3rd June 2009 and Friday 5th June 2009 and between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Saturday 6th June 2009. ![]() Birmingham Aquatics and Leisure Centre The council would like your views on the new facility.
