Crufts 'Best in show' winner 2008 Dog lovers from around the world will be congregating in Birmingham this weekend for Crufts 2009. Hosted by the Kennel Club (UK), Crufts is officially the largest annual dog show in the world. Click the links at the top of this page to enjoy photos, reports and videos from past Crufts events.The four day event – which last year featured 23,000 dogs and 160,000 visitors – features a range of competitions taking place at the same time, where different pedigree breeds are paraded and judged before group winners are decided. Crufts 2009 Group Showing DaysThursday 5th March - Terrier & Hound; Friday 6th March - Toy & Utility; Saturday 7th March - Gundog; Sunday 8th March - Working & Pastoral This culminates in the prestigious 'Best in Show' contest on the Sunday evening, where group winners are put forward for grad prize, which is widely considered to be the most prestigious award achievable for an individual dog and its owner. In addition to this world class contest, several other canine competitions will take place over the four days, including the International Obedience, Agility and Heelwork to Music contests. The Discover Dogs area will showcase over 200 breeds of pedigree dogs that you can meet. You'll be able to talk to their owners and get advice on everything from grooming to training and be able to search registered litters and breeders.
