Theo was speaking live on BBC WM's Phil Upton @ Breakfast Show on Thursday 5th February 2009 when he agreed hand over the money.

Presenter Phil Upton put Theo on the spot - telling him that his Dragon's Den co-star Duncan Bannatyne had donated £1,000 to BBC WM's Kidney Kids Appeal a few weeks earlier.

Duncan had been so impressed by a painting drawn by nine year old renal patient Campbell Morgan, who underwent a kidney transplant in October 2008, that the star had donated to BBC WM's appeal.

Would Theo Paphitis be outdone by his fellow dragon?

Not at all! Theo immediately pledged £1,000 of his own money to BBC WM Kidney Kids campaign, which aims to raise £1.5 million for a new kidney unit at Birmingham Children's Hosptial.

"I am absolutely lost for words," joked Theo. "If that picture is so good that it made Duncan Bannatyne put his hand in his pocket and take out £1,000, I am humbled. It would be wrong of me not to agree to match that £1,000.

"I would be only too pleased to match that. And now you've got three more Dragons to get hold of!"
