Twenty years of Clothes Show Live

If you can remember when MC Hammer donned his parachute pants for the first time, when Madonna wowed the world with the infamous Gaultier bra or when Timmy Mallet was singing about a yellow polka dot bikini, then you’ll remember the first ever Clothes Show Live.

The world's biggest fashion and beauty event

Launched in 1989, as an extravaganza of all things fashion, Clothes Show Live now returns to Birmingham NEC this December 2008 to celebrate 20 fabulous years as the world’s largest fashion and beauty event.

Six days of fashion and beauty

From its inception at London’s Olympia in 1989, where a 40,000-strong crowd- and thousands queuing outside – showed their appreciation for the full-on, five-day fashion feast, Clothes Show Live has blossomed to become the definitive event for fashion and beauty lovers everywhere, attracting over 185,000 visitors to the extended six-day
show.

The show has since grown since its 1980s debut and now plays host to over 500 leading fashion and beauty brands; a 6,500 seater Fashion Theatre, a host of international celebrities with a whole lot more besides.

Fashion Theatre

This year’s show looks set to be the biggest yet – with the world famous Fashion Theatre returning in a riot of colour to deliver a jaw-dropping fashion stage show. There will also be familiar faces on stage – with Vernon Kay, Alesha Dixon, Dave Berry, The Saturdays and a host of stars taking part, with more celebrities to be announced.

Fittingly for the 20th show, Vernon himself is a Clothes Show find – having been spotted by Select Models at the 1996 Clothes Show Live. Also appearing and following in Vernon’s modelling footsteps is Marianne Berglund - finalist of Channel Five’s Make Me A Supermodel and face of Clothes Show Live 2008.

Clothes Show Live and The Style Show Presented by Handbag.com will take place at the Birmingham NEC, from 5 to 10 December 2008. Tickets are on sale now and are available from the box office on 0844 579 3178 or online at www.clothesshowlive.com. Tickets include entry to both shows.
