Introducing Jake Flowers
He's toured the highlands and islands of Scotland and now he's performed live on BBC WM Introducing. Listen again to Jake Flowers.
Birmingham-born Jake is one of the most promising singer-songwriters on the local circuit.
Aside from his Scottish tour, Jake has played at numerous festivals around the country, including performing one of his songs with 30 members of The English Symphony Orchestra at the 2007 West Midlands Summer Symphony.
Days before calling in to the BBC WM studios, Jake also played in front of over 24,000 fans at The Molineux for Wolverhampton Wanderers' home battle with QPR, a day plagued by very windy weather.
Rehearsal on stage
"It was quite an incredible experience," he said live on BBC WM Introducing. "The thing I was most nervous about was deciding whether or not I should wear my hat. The decision was only made about five minutes before in the tunnel and we decided to brave it.
"Fortunately, it was ok. Otherwise it could have been the most undignified exit ever if I was just chasing my hat around the pitch!"
Jake performed a four song set live on BBC WM Introducing. On his song 'Fireworks' he said
"Also known as 'The Great Shropshire Fireworks Robbery', it's a song based on a real theft - although romanticised a little.
On his track 'Sticks & Stones':
Jake - check him out on myspace
"It's a song about spending a life in the countryside and the loves, losses and reassurances that we all experience and to some extent need."
