Birmingham's celebrations to mark the Chinese New Year return to the Arcadian this February 2008.

2008 is the Year of the Rat. To celebrate there will be a range of activities and performances on at the Arcadian on Sunday 10th February 2008.

From 12pm there will be a traditional dragon dance with firecrackers which no Chinese New Year celebration is complete without!

Further on into the afternoon there will some singing, acrobatic performances, Kung Fu demonstrations and much more to keep the family entertained.

The event is completely free and the celebrations will continue going up until 5pm.

The Year of the Rat

This is the first sign of the Chinese zodiac and those born under it are leaders, pioneers and conquerors. They are charming, passionate, charismatic, practical and hardworking.

Famous Rats include - Antonio Banderas, Cameron Diaz, Samuel L Jackson , Winston Churchill, President George Washington and William Shakespeare.
