He performed at last year's North By North East music conference in Toronto where he was voted 'Best Act of the Festival'.

Will's debut single 'Dialing Tone' picked up an award at the International Songwriting Competition in 2007 and it's currently featured on an album released by Universal. Tracks from artists such as James Morrison, the Goo Goo Dolls and Keane are also on the compilation.

Shortly after the release of 'Dialing Tone', Will travelled to New York to promote the song where it received extensive airplay on over 70 US radio stations.

Speaking live on BBC WM Introducing, Will said of the competition:

"I think it's always good to get these sort of things behind you. I don't know if it means any kudos from the point of view of the record company.

"I think there were about 15,000 entrants into that competition so I did fairly well and I think that's a good indication to publishers that you've got a good writing ability."

Despite now living in London, Will will always have a special bond with Birmingham:

"I was in a band a few years ago and most of them were Brummies. I was born in Solihull hospital but I only lived here until I was three years old. So it's a miracle I've got any kind of Birmingham accent at all. But I'm back home tonight and I'm feeling the love!"
