Noddy gets his star and ice!

Days before getting his own star on the Birmingham Walk of Fame, Noddy Holder has been sculpted out of ice! Listen here and see our pics!

Sculpters were hard at work on Thursday 6th December 2007 scraping a huge block of ice into a Noddy look-a-like.

Visitors to Martineau Place in Birmingham City Centre will be able to stop and see the ice man, as long as it doesn't melt!

After conducting their own research, Martineux Place officials found that Noddy is the man most Brummies associate with Christmas and 'Merry Xmas Everybody' is their favourite song.

Walk of Stars

Noddy Holder MBE has accepted an invitation to be the next star inducted onto the Walk of Stars, Broad Street.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday 9th December 2007 from 5pm during the Broad Street Christmas Canal Boat Parade, from Brindleyplace to The Mailbox.

Noddy said "It's a great honour to be joining Ozzy and Jasper. I'm looking forward to it, especially as it's Christmas."

And he is full of praise for the Walk of Stars as a celebration of the Midlands contribution to entertainment:

"Birmingham is so underrated, but this raises the profile of Birmingham, shows how it is forward thinking. It has always been stuffed full of talent, not just from the music business."
