Get your skates on! For the third year, er, skating, Birmingham city centre can boast of an outdoor ice rink. It's open until the 13th of January 2008. Click the link, below, to see our Street Ice video.

Street Ice returns! T-Mobile Street Ice, in Centenary Square, was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Randal Brew on Thursday 29 November 2007.

The rink took nine days to build. It contains the equivalent of 140 tons of water - or 140,000 litres. The organisers believe it is the UK’s largest temporary outdoor ice rink.

Food and drink is available, rink-side, from Frankfurt Christmas Market stalls.

Tickets and times

T-Mobile Street Ice is open every day from 10am until 10pm, except for the following days over the festive period:

Christmas Eve 10am - 5pm, Christmas Day - closed, Boxing Day 11am - 10pm, New Years Eve 10am - 5pm and New Years Day 11am - 10pm.

Tickets for Street Ice can be purchased by calling 0870 225 0127 or by logging onto www.visitbirmingham.com.

Tickets cost from £5.00 per hour session.

There are off-peak prices, and discounts for schools, groups and booking in advance.

please please please make this a permanent feature in birmingham. birmingham needs its own ice rink, deserves its own ice rink, wants it own ice rink.

If this years rink is better than last years than its well worth getting tickets for this year coz last year was WICKED!

i think that birmingham should have more festive stuff like this . i mean the german market is the same stuff sold every year. i think there should be more countrys . so it can be enjoyable for every one

I think the music & atmosphere is fab, the young kids that are hanging around should be able to entertain the people of Brum for 5 mins each with some funky moves on a podium put up for them. Instead of security moving them on, lets see some of Brums young dance talent!!
