Introducing

Birmingham musician Ian Darby is equally comfortable playing alone or as part of the experimental pop group Reverie.

On the subject of Reverie, Ian said:

"It's kind of hard to define because we use a cello, viola and violin in slightly different ways to what you'd normally expect. We use electronic instruments too so it can be a kind of beefy, jazzy sound.

"Tonight is really mellow. I'm picking tunes that suit the set I'm doing."

Ian first got into music when he was a schoolboy:

"I started on organs, believe it or not, and then moved on to the piano and moved on to the guitar. I just loved playing these big pianos and that's what really got me hooked on classical music."
