Dali exhibition comes to Birmingham

The Halcyon Gallery in Birmingham hosts an unique Salvador Dali exhibition in December 2007.

The Dali exhibition depicts the work of the father of Surrealism through a number of limited edition pieces which will also be on sale from around £1,299.

There will also be the chance for wealthy art connoisseurs to bid for sculptures by the Spaniard with the famous melting watches starting at £8,950.

The Halcyon gallery display includes pieces that helped make Dali a household name including examples of how he transformed everyday images into iconic, surrealist symbols.

Iconic images

The renowned melting watches image, reputedly inspired by a dream about camembert cheese melting on a hot day, features prominently in the exhibition.

Manager Tim Ison said he was delighted that the Halcyon was displaying the Dali exhibition.

"We're delighted to have this display from the world's most famous surrealist artist, one of the most important figures in modern art."

Exclusive event

The Birmingham show marks one of just a handful of exhibitions for the Dali display nationwide.

It runs from Tuesday December 4, 2007 until Tuesday January 8, 2008. The Halcyon gallery opens from 10am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday and from 11am-5pm Sunday - it is closed on Mondays.
