Pic: bmag.org.uk Heritage Open Days 2007Tour a pagoda, visit a Masonic Temple and see Birmingham from the roof of Soho House. Just three of the free events being held across the city, 6-9 September 2007. Heritage Open Days celebrates England's architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. This year the open days are being held from 6-9 September. In Birmingham there are 39 events. Which include; On the roof of Soho HouseA rare opportunity to access the roof of Soho House to see a wonderful view of Birmingham. Free costumed tours. Sunday only: Talk on the Soho House Garden & live historical music. Discover Georgian make-up wigs & costume . Times: Thur 6th Sept, 1130-1600, Fri 7th Sept, 1130-1600, Sat 8th Sept, 1130-1600 and Sun 9th Sept, 1130-1600 ![]() St. Paul's. Pic: birmingham.gov.uk Walk: Civic sculpture in the city centreAn examination of the civic sculpture around the city centre core, taking in Victoria Square, Chamberlain Square, Centenary Square and the Bull Ring. Walk starts outside Hall of Memory in Centenary Square. Times: Sat 8th Sept, 1000-1100 Yenton Assembly Rooms (Masonic Temple)The Masonic Temple at Yenton Assembly Rooms will be opening its doors. There will be guided tours of the temple and dining rooms, which will be laid out as though for a masonic meeting. All the family are welcome, refreshments will be available to Times: Sat 8th Sept, 1000-1630 Visit Dhamma Talaka Peace PagodaTour the largest purpose built Buddhist Peace Pagoda in Europe, elaborately decorated inside and out in a beautifully crafted Burmese style. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. Times: Thur 6th Sept, 0900-1700, Fri 7th Sept, 0900-1700, Sat 8th Sept, 0900-1700 and Sun 9th Sept, 0900-1700 St Paul's ChurchNeo-Classical Georgian church with full internal fittings (oak box pews) with connections with Matthew Boulton and James Watt. In addition over the weekend there will be visits to bell ringing and John Sawkill will be giving two talks; 'A Brief Introduction to a Display of Prints From Dent's Birmingham Portrait Gallery 1880' (Friday at 1330; Saturday at 1430; Sunday at 1200). Talk two: 'The Building of the Church 1772-79' Friday at 1200; Saturday at 1200.
