Live lunchtime music at BBC Birmingham

BBC Birmingham's Public Space will be hosting a week of live acoustic music from the 27th to the 31st August 2007.

Between 12.45pm and 1.15pm the live sets can be caught here at the Mailbox or live on the BBC Big Screen in Chamberlain Square.

The Andy Bunting Jazz Trio

Monday 27th August - The band is currently studying at Birmingham Conservatoire and have performed across the globe at venues in LA, Paris and New York.

Old Dance School

Tuesday 28th August - A funky folk-music band who are headlining at Moseley Folk Festival on 2nd September. The group met at the Birmingham Conservatoire and were introduced through the legendary folk musician - Joe Broughton. They have also appeared on the Janice Long Show on BBC WM.

Liz Larner

Wednesday 29th August – Liz Larner will perform a selection of songs with her classical guitar. Liz is an award-winning graduate from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music.

Pete & The Kevin Ashcroft Band

Thursday 30th August -The band will be playing blues influenced music and Rock and Roll. They have performed for the BBC Big Screen and have also appeared on BBC WM’s Jimmy Franks Show. They have just recorded their first album.

Miccoli

Friday 31st August – Miccoli are a Dudley based twin brother and a sister duo. As singer-songwriters their style has evolved from the musical influences of artists including Nina Simone and The Police. The duo has performed at the O2 festival at Hyde Park, London.

Public space

The BBC Birmingham Public Space is open weekdays from 9.30am – 6pm, Saturdays from 9.30am – 5.30pm and Sundays from 11am – 5pm.

There is a cafe, shop and you can even have a go at reading the news and weather on a special green screen – before sending it to the internet and view it again later.
