John Barrowman, aka Captain Jack in the smash-hit Torchwood, is to star in Birmingham Hippodrome's pantomime Aladdin. He took a break from his busy schedule - he's a pretty popular guy at the moment, to come to Birmingham to promote the panto.

He's currently a judge on the programme 'Any Dream Will Do', he's filming a new series of 'Torchwood', and when we met him, he'd just been flying with the RAF! Jenny Jones from BBC WM had a chat with John. She even managed a quick kiss at the end - well, as she says - it was probably her only chance ever, so she just 'went for it'. Naughty but nice

John says he's looking forward to playing Aladdin and he certainly seems keen to engage with the audience, as well as having a bit of fun. When talking about the special effects in the show he said: "There will be a 3D genie that the audience can rub - I wish I was in 3D." And then went on to say with a smile: " I can get a little naughty". As he'll be spending Christmas in Birmingham, he invited people to say hello if they see him around: "...especially if it's in a bar and the want to buy me a drink!" A Darlek first
