The world famous Royal Opera House returns to the Big Screen following the success of the last two years, when three live relays from inside their Covent Garden home were relayed to the Birmingham screen. The gems from the Royal Opera Houses programme will be beamed direct to Chamberlain Square.

There'll be additional pre-show entertainment before the transmission begins. Swan Lake, performed by the Royal Ballet, will be relayed to the Big Screen on Thursday May 31 at 7.30pm. This is probably the most famous of all classical ballets. Set to Tchaikovsky’s memorable score, Swan Lake is a showcase of virtuosic solos and spectacular ensembles. If you’d like to see this amazing ballet in an informal setting and for free – make a date in Chamberlain Square.

Don Giovanni (of Mozart’s opera of dissolution and retribution) will be performed by the Royal Opera House on Wednesday June 13 at 7.00pm. And Tosca, again performed by the Royal Opera House will be performed on Tuesday July 3 at 7.30pm. This is Puccini’s story of love, violence, politics and tragedy. All three performances are free and will be relayed from the Royal Opera House in Covent Gardend direct to the Big Screen in Chamberlain Square. |
