Behind the scenes of Midlands Today

Take a touch screen tour of the radio drama studio where The Archers and Silver Street is recorded. Look through the windows into radio studios used by the BBC Asian Network and BBC WM to see presenters live on air.

If all that wasn’t enough; take a peek at the BBC Midlands Today studio and into the gallery used to put the news on your TV screens. 

Finish off your visit by relaxing in the cafe and treating yourself in the BBC Shop.

The BBC Public Space is open seven days a week.

Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 5.30pm

Sundays 11am to 5pm

The Public Space is also the starting point for BBC Tours.  Guides will take you into BBC Birmingham and show you round the state-of-the-art studios situated in The Mailbox.

Take a peek behind the scenes of programmes such as BBC Midlands Today and take part in a special recording of a radio drama, complete with sound effects and music!

Tours last approximately 1½ hours and offer a fascinating insight into the world of broadcasting. For further information or to make a booking, visit bbc.co.uk/tours or call 0370 901 1227 (Monday – Saturday, 9 – 5pm).  

Where are we?

The Public Space is situated in BBC Birmingham on level 7 of The Mailbox.  It is just minutes from New Street station. For those driving, there is plenty of parking in the city centre. The canal leading to Gas Street Basin makes a pleasant route for walking.
