| After playing their hits on the Fan Park's stage to an audience of appreciative screaming teenagers, vocalist/lead guitarist Danny Jones, bass player/vocalist Dougie Poynter, vocalist/rhythm guitarist Tom Fletcher and drummer Harry Judd took their seats at the rear of the Park.

In between signing T-shirts, beachballs, arms, books etc, and posing for photos and chatting to their adoring fans, the boys got a chance to watch the football on the big screen. Tom and Harry seemed to pay the most attention to the match. Harry was nearest, so I asked him who he was supporting: "I'm supporting France, because I'm an Arsenal fan and I want as much success for Henry as possible." said Harry.

"My prediction is 3-1 to France." Forty-five minutes later and it's Italy 1-1 France. Zinedine Zidane and Marco Materazzi scored. Over to Harry for some Half-Time analysis. "It's looking fairly even at half time." said Harry, wooden drumstick in hand. "Zidane is looking pretty dangerous in the corners. My prediction is still 3-1 to France, with a dramatic goal at the end!"

The area in which McFly are sitting is ringed by security and girls pointing camera phones. During the break the band walk over to the fans, sign what they're handed, pose for more photos and are charming. Then it's the second half and the boys take their seats (although Dougie's perched on a table, chatting to fans who can't quite believe their luck).

Second half over and it's still Italy 1-1 France. Into extra time. Still France to win, Harry? "Yeah my prediction wasn't quite right, was it? But [France] seem to be the dominant side in the second half and I have a feeling... I hope it goes to penalties because it's always quite exciting." What about the rest of the band, who are they supporting?

"Tom's girlfriend is half Italian so I think he's rooting for Italy. Danny just prefers Italy, I think, and Dougie's not really interested." said Harry. That's true. Dougie's still perched on the table behind Harry, chatting to fans. Half-Time Extra-Time. McFly do more signing, more chatting and pose for more photos. Then 110 minutes in, a Red Card for France's captain Zinedine Zidane, for headbutting. All of McFly are paying attention now - gasps of disbelief at the replay.

The match goes into penalties. McFly are on the edge of their seats. It must be the tension, Harry's tapping his leg faster and faster with his drumstick. Italy 5-3 France. Fabio Grosso steps up and scores to win the World Cup. McFly are on their feet cheering. Security and management are closing in to whisk the band away. Final words from football pundit Harry Judd. France have lost, is Harry as sick as a parrot?
 | | Italy fans celebrate |
"I'm not really bothered - coz obviously England weren't in the final." said Harry. "I feel sorry for France - but Zidane lost his temper a bit which wasn't very good. Well done to Italy, they played good football and it was a dramatic ending." And with that, security appear and McFly make their way through the crowd. Stopping, of course, to chat, sign, and to pose for even more photos with their fans. McFly's Sport Relief Single
