Spoken word with Dreadlockalien

Birmingham Poet Laureate Dreadlockalien presents six of the best spoken word performance poets from the West Midlands.


From April to September 2006, Birmingham Poet Laureate, Dreadlockalien, will be hosting a series of monthly spoken word performances in the West Midlands. 

The first event takes place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 5 April in Birmingham Library Theatre, Chamberlain Square and will feature Birmingham's Young Poet Laureate, Helen Monks, who will present some collaborative work as well as her own material.

Birmingham's legendary dub poet, Moqapi Selassie, will head the line-up which also features Peter Wyton, with a history of the world in three minutes; actress and writer, Launa Meehan; playwright and poet, Muna Husse, and Steven Camden, aka Polar Bear.

The performers will be supported by the Phat Controller reggae band and live visual projection from Pixalize. Tickets are £5 each from Birmingham Box Office, tel 0121 303 2323 or log onto www.birminghamboxoffice.com
