WM Presenters

A voice already familiar to people in Birmingham and the West Midlands, bubbly Nikki Tapper joined BBC WM in 2003. Her three hour live Gospel show comprises of lively chat, music, interviews, competitions and much more.

A teacher and full-time mum, Nikki has always had a keen interest in radio, studying an MA in Media Production. She gained her radio experience in commercial radio and her first broadcasting role was with Galaxy.

Born in Smethwick, Nikki went to Four Dwellings School in Quinton and to St Phillips College, Edgbaston.

Nikki has always had a keen interest in working with young people. In the past she has worked extensively with the Birmingham Association of Youth Clubs which took her to destinations across Europe.

Nikki's current role is working more as a tutor with young people who don't attend mainstream school. This is both demanding and rewarding.

Her love for music especially for Gospel gained her a Commendation at the Andrew Cross Awards in 2000 for her radio show 'Gospel Heat' and a nomination in 2002.

More recently Nikki was recognised by the voting public to be the 'best presenter for the Midlands and North' at the first Oasis Music & Church awards 2006 in London.

Nikki says: "Gospel is a big part of my life, so being part of the team at BBC WM presenting the show is truly a joy."

A self-confessed football fanatic, Nikki supports both West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal and has played in a women's 5-a-side football team.
