Over the years Ed has received many accolades for the work he has done, from honorary doctorates to an MBE.

Ed is known as the "Consumer's Champion" fighting for the rights of his listeners, tackling dishonest and cavalier traders on behalf of the listeners.

Ed has been know to take on the big utilities, the councils of the West Midlands and even of national government when necessary.

Over the years he has helped thousands to unburden themselves and has interviewed national and world leaders including; HRH The Princess Royal, six UK Prime Ministers, Nelson Mandela and most front bench members.

He aims to "make a difference" to the less fortunate and through his radio programme and charity work he can justifiably claim success.

Ed's Awards

Over the 30 years of broadcasting Ed has managed to gain many awards through his work at BBC WM.

* British Telecom Regional News Broadcaster of the Year 1997
* BT Current Affairs Programme of the Year 1997, Silver Award
* Sony Awards May 1998 – "Best Weekend Speech Programme" Gold Award
* Frank Gillard Award 2000 - "Sequence Presenter" Gold Award

Ed was awarded the coveted MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honors List in 1999.

He was also awarded an Honorary degree of Doctor of the University from The University of Central England in 1999, an Honorary degree of Doctor of the University from The University of Birmingham, also in 1999 and in 2001 an Honorary degree of Doctor of Science from University of Aston.
