Mad About Music

Mad About Music

Mad about Music is a musical fun day based around Brindleyplace and the Mailbox. It celebrates the different musical styles and cultures of the West Midlands.

Live music takes place on Bank Holiday Monday 1 May from 12noon until 5pm at two different venues: the Mailbox and at Brindleyplace.

You'll find a whole host of family entertainment including an arts market, bouncy castle, the West Midlands Police recruitment bus, face painting and balloon modelling.

The BBC Public Space and the malls in The Mailbox will also have their fair share of entertainers adding to the fun.

Would you like to be part of it?

BBC WM  is looking for groups or individual singers who can join us for the day to perform on either the main stage in Brindleyplace, or at the Waterfront in Brindleyplace.

Do you have a thirty minute set that you think could get us in the groove on Bank Holiday Monday?  Are you flexible enough to perform acoustically if we ask you?

If you think you fit the bill, send us a demo CD, biography, technical requirements and daytime contact numbers. Applications need to be in by March 31st, and sent to:

The event is organised by BBC WM, in conjunction with Birmingham City Council, Brindleyplace and The Mailbox.

If you're not lucky enough to be invited to perform on the day, there's still a chance to show the West Midlands what you are made of. Jimmy Franks and Ben Turner have regular live music sessions on their programmes on BBC WM and are always looking to showcase new talent.  Your demo will also be forwarded to the programmes for them to consider.
