Birmingham’s Chinese New Year celebrations will take place on Sunday, January 29th, 2006 at The Arcadian Centre, Hurst Street located in Birmingham’s Chinese Quarter. Year of the Dog The year of the Dog will be welcomed in with an exciting afternoon of entertainment including the famous dragon dance, acrobats, plate spinners, martial arts exhibitions and a feast of cultural food, stalls and music.

Jeffrey Yap from the Chinese Festival Committee says: "This will be a spectacular afternoon in which we invite people of all ages to come and share the traditions of the Chinese New Year." The free event lasts from 1pm – 4pm and is organised by the Birmingham Chinese Festival Committee in conjunction with Birmingham City Council. Arts, music, food and culture Councillor John Alden, Cabinet Member for Leisure Sport and Culture: "Birmingham’s Chinese New Year gives people the opportunity to experience the arts, music, food and culture of Birmingham’s Chinese communities.
