St George's Day fun

Join in a host of exciting free activities and live entertainment for all the family, as part of the St George's Day celebrations in Birmingham, on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April.

Over two days Birmingham City Centre will be overflowing with family fun activities and live entertainment celebrating St George’s Day 2005.

Victoria Square…

In Victoria Square enjoy a full programme of live family entertainment. There will also be a food marquee serving traditional English refreshments and a seating area where the public can relax and enjoy their food while enjoying the live entertainment.

Children can enjoy rides on a traditional carousel, face-painting and St George-themed stilt walkers roaming around keeping the crowds entertained.

Chamberlain Square

In Chamberlain Square people can enjoy more live entertainment including Morris dancing from Jockey Mens’ Morris Club and Glorishears of Brummagem, also music from male voice choirs and the Woolley Pritchard Brass Band.

There will also be a live screening of ‘An English Celebration Concert’ on the BBC Big Screen which takes place at Symphony Hall on Saturday 23, 11.30am – 1.30pm and a reprise of the concert at 11.30am on Sunday.

Centenary Square

From 11am to 8pm each day Centenary Square will be turned into a fun children’s activity village, which will include a large inflatable, battle of Britain flight simulator, climbing wall and Victorian swing boats.

Throughout the weekend there will be lots of competitions and prize giveaways. On Saturday from 12 noon to 4.30pm people can take part in a special Historical English Character Trail. Follow a trail around the centre identifying 12 historical English characters with a chance to win fabulous prizes. Entry forms can be picked up at the event on the day.
