Communities Unite

Out of the loss of their friends, Charlene Ellis and Letisha Shakespeare, young people from ACYP expressed their love and loss through music poetry, song and dance.

On the 2nd of January 2003 Charlene Ellis and Letisha Shakespeare lost their lives in a shooting incident at a New Year's party in Aston. For a number of years both girls attended the Aston Community Youth Project where they had many friends.

Hundreds attended the event

Out of the loss of their friends the young people from the project wanted to express their love and loss in some way.

All those involved were going through a difficult and challenging time, however it gave all the young people in the youth project and Aston an opportunity to shine and show their talents. The event was held at the Aston Villa football ground.

Take a look at the pictures and listen to poems and songs from the Communities Unite event.
