Jacqueline Wilson

Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945. She always wanted to be a writer and filled lots and lots of exercise books up with her stories before she left school. She wrote her first novel when she was nine.

She worked as a journalist on Jackie magazine to which she gave her name, but started writing full-time after she had her daughter.

She's known for her spiky hair and for wearing a big ring on every finger, and always has her mascot "Radish" - a slightly worn out toy rabbit, with her when she writes. She still writes in long-hand in notebooks and can even write 1000 words an hour!

Jacqueline took over from Michael Morpurgo as Childrens Laureate in 2005.

Jacqueline has won lots of awards and has sold millions of copies of her books in the UK alone.

Her many books include:

  • The Story of Tracy Beaker
  • Best Friends
  • The Diamond Girls
  • Bad Girls
  • Double Act
  • The Lottie Project
  • Vicky Angel
  • Sleepovers
  • Girls Under Pressure
  • Girls in Tears
  • Girls in Love
  • The Illustrated Mum

...and many, many more!
