Morris Gleitzman

Morris Gleitzman was born in Sleaford, Lincolnshire in 1953. His family moved to London when he was two and then to Australia in 1969.

He always loved reading. His favourite books were the Just William series by Richmal Compton. But he also liked Enid Blyton, westerns and biographies (of soccer stars).

He is a big fan of corned beef and one of the most exciting things about moving to Australia were the different tinned meats. No kangaroo though! He hates rhubarb.

He started writing for a comedy show on TV. His first book, The Other Facts of Life, started out as a film. The publisher asked Morris to turn the script into a book. He hasn't looked back since.

Some of the books he's written include:

  • Puppy Fat
  • Adults Only
  • Blabber Mouth
  • Belly Flop
  • Toad Rage
  • Bumface
  • Boy Overboard
  • Two Weeks with the Queen
  • Teacher's Pet
  • Girl Underground
  • Wicked (with Paul Jennings)
