Emma Barnes
Emma grew up in Edinburgh and wanted to be a writer, actress or the first female Chancellor of the Exchequer.
When she was a child, Emma made up stories for her sister, Rosy. She invented tales of a witch's dog (the witch was allergic to cats) to keep Rosy amused.
Emma started work as a Civil Servant. She wrote a twenty page paper on banana trade wars, but generally found the job very dull. After a few years she escaped to the USA where she learned to cross-country ski, taught American college students and studied Political Science.
On returning to the UK, Emma got married and focused on becoming a children's writer, which is what she had wanted all along. She found success with her first children’s book
Jessica Haggerthwaite: Witch Dispatcher.
Emma lives in Yorkshire where she enjoys Arabic dancing, the Yorkshire Dales and fish and chips. She hopes to write more books and complete the Great North Run!
Her books include:
- Sam and the Griswalds
- Jessica Haggerthwaite: Media Star
