As well as being a writer, Roy has worked on a farm, as a clerk in a tax office and as a teacher.

He lives with his wife and two children plus a dog called Rosie, a cat called Boris, three rabbits and two guinea pigs.

He's written thirty five books and has also written comedy and drama for television programmes like Byker Grove.

He loves eating food from the garden like raspberries, apples and tomatoes. He's a big fan of Brighton and Hove Albion football team.
