Building on the success of the last 8 years of free live Royal Opera House relays on the BBC Big Screens, the BBC and the Royal Opera House are delighted to announce this year’s performance of The Royal Ballet’s Metamorphosis: Titian 2012. This world-class production of ballet will be beamed live from Covent Garden to 17 BigScreens@LiveSites up and down the UK.

The Royal Ballet’s Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 will be screened on Monday 16 July at 7.30pm. Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 features as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad where leading artists from all over the world will come together in the UK’s biggest ever nationwide festival including dance, music, theatre and the visual arts.

Seven choreographers have worked together to create a single evening of exciting dance with new scores from British composers and stage designs from leading contemporary artists. It is the kind of choreographic event that happens once in a lifetime. Metamorphosis: Titian 2012 is inspired by three of Renaissance master Titian’s paintings on display at the National Gallery. This extraordinary event features the combined talents of Chris Ofili, Conrad Shawcross, Mark Wallinger, Kim Brandstrup, Alastair Marriott, Wayne McGregor, Liam Scarlett, Will Tuckett, Jonathan Watkins, Christopher Wheeldon, Jonathan Dove, Nico Muhly, Mark-Anthony Turnage and The Royal Ballet.

Whether audiences are new to ballet or already devotees, this Big Screen relay offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the very best from the Royal Opera House in unique settings across the UK. Grab your picnics and blankets and settle in for an awe-inspiring evening at the BigScreens@LiveSites.
