Hand From Above is an interactive application on the Big Screens which was inspired by Land of the Giants and Goliath. Passers-by in Liverpool city centre were the first to be fingered by a giant hand on the BBC Big Screen.
Now the HAND FROM ABOVE is on a year-long, 19-stop tour of other BBC run Big Screens around the UK.
Created by artist Chris O’Shea and produced by BBC Big Screen manager Bren O’Callaghan, the hand appears from on high and tickles, flicks or even removes entirely unsuspecting pedestrians from view.
A short film that Chris O'Shea made in Liverpool’s Clayton Square captures the public response to the hand, ranging from hilarity to bafflement. This has become a minor video sharing sensation and attracted international press coverage. Watch the video by clicking here (the BBC is not responsible for the content of external webpages).

HAND FROM ABOVE had its first outing last month in conjunction with the Abandon Normal Devices Festival of New Cinema and Digital Culture. It is also appearing on a number of Big Screens including Cardiff, Hull, Edinburgh, Middlesborugh, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds and London.
