Homes have been flooded in the following areas of Purley-on
Thames:
Wintringham Way
Coliton Way
Chestnut Grove
Mapledurham Drive
Brading Way
The
area is flooded to around 3 feet of water. Levels are expected
to peak around the early hours of Sunday. Vounteers are available
to help elderly residents who need to evacuate. 5,000 sandbags
have been deployed, and there is help available for those
affected at the Barn, Beech Rd, by the Sports and Social Club.

The
Environment Agency say that while many areas across the country
are 'stabilising', levels on the River Thames are still due to increase.
Water
levels on the River Thames in Reading are expected to peak on Sunday
or Monday.
People
are advised to drive carefully, keep pets safe and check availability
of torches and batteries.

Cookham
Work by the Environment Agency to construct Flood Defences in East
Berkshire is being praised by Cookham residents.
Councillor
Tony Pritchard of Cookham Parish Council says the defences appear
to be keeping the flood waters away from the shops and houses.

Ham
Island
Residents
of Ham Island have had their garages and gardens flooded. Storm
water escaped from a nearby sewage works.
Residents
claim that Thames Water had not maintained the walls of the the
sewage farm reservoir and now their gardens are filled with diluted
sewage.

Bridge has now been closed to traffic |
Sonning
Sonning Bridge remains closed on Saturday after flooding in
the area left roads impassible.
Windsor
More than 4,000 sand bags have been distributed to home owners
around Windsor.
The
local authority said it has also activated its emergency control
room to deal with the volume of calls it is receiving from concerned
members of the public.
The
Environment Agency issued a flood alert on Wednesday warning of
possible problems along stretches of the Thames including those
at Old Windsor and Datchett.
