International concert guitarists John Mills & Cobie Smit join together for the first of Berkshire Guitar Societies 2007 concert series. John & Cobie will be performing works by Poulenc, Telemann, Castelnuovo-Tedesco & Granados. John Mills studied with Andres Segovia, John Williams and Julian Bream and now is one of the UK's leading recitalists having given well over 2,500 concerts around the world. He is also Head of Guitar at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Dutch-born Cobie Smit studied at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague. Bev sings, plays and directs the jam session to allow people who want to jam to come up and play with the core band - with a lot of interest from local musicians the session will be able to have really diverse nights of music at The Litten Tree on a regular basis. When the jam session has finished or during any breaks, there are guest DJ's to keep the mood going. All musicians who play significantly in the jam session are offered refreshments for their efforts. The event needs more musicians and appreciators to come along and see for themselves how exciting this night of live improvised fusion.

Local Berkshire based band Bullfrog are playing an evening of rocking blues at the Jolly Farmer pub, Davis Street, Hurst, Reading on Sunday 18th March. Entry is free and the music starts at 8.30pm. The Bullfrogs are Derek on guitar and vocals, Dave on blues harp (harmonica), Rik on drums and Michelle on bass. We're pleased to announce the return of Reading's hottest jazz venue, Jazz at the Brasserie, for an 8-week series every Tuesday night from March 20th to May 8th.

With the emphasis on a greater variety of styles and different sizes of ensemble, set in a fantastic restaurant with beautiful views of the Thames, our new booking policy means that we're able to feature groups playing challenging original compositions, contemporary arrangements, and dynamic re-workings of jazz standards.

Voted "Best Jazz Pianist" at the British Jazz awards no less than six times (!) and referred to as a "young lion," by Chick Corea, he has toured around the world as accompanist to American singer Stacey Kent and just recently recorded sessions for a new trio record (as yet untitled) featuring new, groundbreaking compositions and unique fusions, adding to an already extensive collection of titles under his own name.

Jazz Fusion music sessions.
A fusion of Soul, Funk, Gospel, Blues and Jazz players from around Berkshire blend at the new Jam Club to create a fabulous sound for the core band. Bev sings, plays and directs the jam session to allow people who want to jam to come up and play with the core band - with a lot of interest from local musicians the session will be able to have really diverse nights of music at The Litten Tree on a regular basis. When the jam session has finished or during any breaks, there are guest DJ's to keep the mood going. All musicians who play significantly in the jam session are offered refreshments for their efforts. The event needs more musicians and appreciators to come along and see for themselves how exciting this night of live improvised fusion.
