Newbury
was awash with culture on Sunday 30th May with the Newbury Fringe
Festival.
Bands
played in Victoria park, dancers performed in The Kennet Shopping
Centre while madrigals were sung at The Corn Exchange.
The
sun blazed upon the park for the majority of the event, with only
a smattering of rain around midday.
Victoria
Park featured a huge public workshop ranging from pottery to embroidery.
A huge horizontal canvas provided an opportunity for adults and children
to show off their artistic skills.
Musically
the event was as colourful as the free-for-all canvas.
The
Apollo Big Band and their 1940's swing kicked off a day of impressive
live performances, ranging from the eccentric jazz poet AF Harrold
and the spooky nightmarish rock of Sonic Undermind to the female-fronted
indie band Read Between the Lines and the quirky arty punk of Bidgie
Reef & The Gas.
