are playing the Carling stage at the festival but you can get a sneak
preview of their set when they headline the Access All Areas rock
night at the Face Bar.
"2004
is their's already" ('100 reasons why 2004 will rule', Kerrang,
January) is the kind of hard-core praise the abnd are getting.
Already
they have the accolade of being the first band to record a John Peel
session purely on the basis of a demo submission.
Their
quirky, tight and occasionally chaotic approach to a kind of sub-rock
genre got them signed, while their first mini album 'All Roads To
Fault' praised in top music mags. Audience, prepare your ears for
some primal noisecore.
On the
cusp of releasing their first single 'Take me through', supporting
band Days of Worth are creating a buzz on the rock scene following
their recent appearance at the Kerrang show in Wolverhampton.
Signed
by Visible Noise in '03, this five-piece are no strangers to Reading,
having gigged locally and headlined events such as the Unsigned Showcase
launch at the Fez Club in 2003.
Days of
Worth have an early 90's rock vibe of powerful, emotive music charged
by influences from Faith no More and Smashing Pumpkins.
The
Big Bang are aptly titled with their explosive rock 'n' roll.
They quote the Queens of the Stone Age as one of their major influences
though there are also similarities to Motorhead, The Cramps and Black
Sabbath. In their own words their "primitive, majestic, nasty beast
of a sound will make you cheat on your spouse, steal a car and dig
yourself into a whole world of trouble if you're not careful". Oo-er.
Old Skool
rock/metal outfit Dying Slowly have the task of kicking off
the night at The Face. Famed for their crazy stage antics, evil lyrics,
and total lack of self-control, the Slough band have won many places
in various battle of the bands finals. With song titles such as: 'Eat
Myself', and Evil Little Boy', you just know they're going to be one
angry ball of vitriol.
After
the bands DJ Alex Rebus will be spinning the wheels of steel
until 2am.
