Meet Eleanor Vale
I'm BBC Berkshire's new Blast Arts reporter! I'm going to be bringing you all the latest arts news from across the county this summer. But first of all, here's a little feature about me...
Who am I?
Hi, I'm Eleanor Vale. I'm a 21 year old student who was born and bred here in fine Berkshire. Currently I am studying music at Bristol University where I take part in a range of artistic endeavours from music theatre to wine tasting (I'm pretty sure it's classed as an art). All my life I have been submersed in the arts and I love it. I'm here this summer to share my passion for the arts, and to let you know the ins and out of Berkshire's arts scene.
A little more about me
I live and breathe music. My musical taste is about as diverse as can possibly be. King's of Leon, Simian Mobile Disco, The Beatles, The Smiths are some on my favourites (to name but a few), along with the likes of Beethoven, Liszt and Vaughan-Williams. Not forgetting my love for watching and performing in cheesy musicals: West Side Story, Wicked, Chicago…it's all about the jazz hands.
A badger cub
Things I love:
Music and theatre (obviously), gigging, travelling, badgers, pirates, cheese, west-country cider and tea.
Things I loathe:
Wasps, ginger, bananas and fake tan.
What about after Blast?
Well, firstly I need to graduate! I would love to do a masters, but essentially I want my future to be based in the broadcast journalism and (fingers-crossed) within the BBC. I'm just going to keep putting myself out there, applying for work placements and gaining more experience in reporting and journalism. Experience is everything in this industry.
What will I be covering?
Everything and anything in the Berkshire area that is artistic. Berkshire has so much going on this summer from the world famous Reading Festival 2008 to fringe festivals and contemporary art exhibitions. Hopefully there will be something for everybody, whether you want to get involved in the arts this summer or simply want to enjoy a few performances.
