Junkyard Scientists jam
Reading's funk soul collective Junkyard Scientists will be the first band to play an in-store gig at Reading's Zavvi music store (formally Virgin Megastore) on Bank Holiday Monday 26 May. What else is in store?
Catch a Junkyard Scientists gig and you'll marvel at the amount of musicians on stage all collectively adding their vibe to the exuberant funk-hip hop-soul outpouring from the speakers.
Formed only in 2007, the seven-piece have been setting dance floors alight all over the south of England with their explosive live performances, smouldering energy and party atmosphere.
If you like Jamiroquai, James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone and Amp Fiddler then you will love this band.
And you can now go and see them live at a free in-store gig at Zavvi music store in Reading's Broad Street Mall.
Playing on Bank Holiday Monday 26 May 2008, the Junkyard Scientists will be the first band to play at this new establishment (formally Virgin Megastore).
The band will take to the stage at 7pm to perform their outrageous funk-infused hip hop soul tunes from their debut EP, which is released and on sale at Zavvi on the same date.
So not only will you get the chance to see a great live gig, but you can also be one of the furst to get your hands on the JYS EP.
The EP and Junkyard Scientists merchandise will be on sale in Zavvi from then onwards.
Guitarist and vocalist Jonny Beale said: "Zavvi want to set a new trend in promoting local and live music and have asked Junkyard Scientists to be the first band to perform in store to get things flying."
On top of this gig, the band also run one of the most crazy and popular nights out in Berkshire called That's The Jam at the Global Cafe in London Street, Reading.
The next That's The Jam will be a two floor extravaganza on Friday 13 June 2008 from 8pm - 1am (free entry as usual) and will feature Junkyard Scientists, Stoltz, Luv Shuvel, MidiMidis, Ground Dust, the DJC, Flat Stan, Nexone and Ollie T.
In preparation for the Zavvi gig the Junkyard Scientists will also be playing a special live acoustic set, and spinning a track from the new EP on BBC Radio Berkshire on Sunday 18 May from 7pm to 8pm.
