Alongside BBC Radio Berkshire's stand, the BBC's Reading and Writing tent paid a visit to the recent Royal County of Berkshire Show. Reading FC and England left-back Nicky Shorey even popped by to lend his support.

The RaW message continues to spread and after a summer at sporting events around Berkshire, the team had a successful two days at Newbury Showground.

As well as listening to magical tales from storyteller Mike O'Leary, there was the opportunity to have a go at football commentary and an interactive BBC Radio Berkshire quiz to win a DAB radio.

Hundreds of Max & Lara books disappeared in no time and dozens of parents pledged to enter the National Short Story competition.

Many families made a beeline for the RaW tent having heard about it live on BBC Radio Berkshire.

As ever, the West Berkshire Library Service were there in force promoting both the RaW publications and their own activities, and a BBC bus, borrowed from Southern Counties Radio, had the RaW website available for visitors to use.
