Fans of the Basingstoke Bison have been keen supporters of the BBC RaW campaign from the start.

During the latest school half-term, Bison players Blair Manning and Mark DeSantis visited South Ham, Basingstoke and Chineham libraries to present the prizes for RaW's recent ice hockey quiz and limerick competition. The Club donated match tickets and the Library Service provided copies of Tony Hand's autobiography signed by the great man himself. There were several younger fans among the winners at South Ham and encouragingly their parents came along too to chat to the players.

One very tiny fan came to see Blair Manning at South Ham AND Mark DeSantis at Basingstoke. Kitted out in his Bison shirt, he brought his word cards to show them as he knew that RaW was about reading and writing. The message is obviously getting across…let's hope it is to his parents too! The Library's new collection of ice hockey stock plus a selection of the RaW Ice Hockey Limerick Competition entries were on display too….well, at least the printable ones! |
