The Reading Fringe Festival just keeps getting better and better. Among its 55-plus events being organised in Reading, there is now a chance that the festival will make it on the box. Popworld, the iconic TV show, is filming its Popworld Promotes Elite at 21 South Street on Saturday 19 August.
The gig will feature Bashphelt, Page 44 and Chairmen Of The Bored, three acts representing the great talent Popworld Promotes has uncovered. Along with guest DJs and some great prize giveaways this event will also be filmed for future broadcast. Popworld Promotes is an online off-shoot of the show where people can vote for and download their favourite tracks by unsigned artists. This is the first time that the web service will be showcasing their monthly winning artists together on the same stage. Bashphelt Manchester-based funk rock band Bashphelt were our first winners in April and are gaining a lot of recognition in and around London. Popworld Promotes secured a slot for them on the unsigned stage at this year's Guilfest and has also got them supporting SixNationState and Rebus on Monday 21 August at the Fez Club in Reading. Page 44 Page 44 recently cemented their place in the Emergenza national finals, a competition voted for by record labels and management. They proved worthy winners of Popworld Promotes in May with their 'Thunderpop' sound. Chairman Of The Bored Chairmen Of The Bored (including ex-Hollyoaks star Ben Gerrard) look set for stardom. The guys were our winners in July and Popworld Promotes recently arranged for them to play at Bliss Magazine's annual star-studded party in Manchester.
