The fringe festival kicked off when Reading talent headed to London to spread the word of what is an explosive music scene here in the county. Titled Reading On Fire, this gig at the famous Water Rats in Kings Cross on Saturday 20 August saw some of Reading's most promising bands take to the stage: Rebus, My Luminaries, The Sand Creek Massacre and The Heartwear Process.
Back in Reading, reggae roots legend Aqua Livi & The Roots Imansion is playing a home-coming gig at the launch of The Screwball Cabaret on Wednesday 24 August at Plug 'n' Play studios in Milford Road. Aqua has previously shared a stage with Lee "Scratch" Perry, Mad Professor and Jah Shaka among others. Over the years he has played Glastonbury, WOMAD and Notting Hill Carnival. He will now be sharing one of two stages with local favourites Polar Remote, soul band Carter, Suitable Case For Treatment, singer/songwriter Ben Marwood and DJs from the mighty Kraked Sound System.
