The New Highs

The New Highs

Maidenhead band The New Highs tear through their riff-driven rock like a student dashing to the bar in the last seconds of happy hour. Find out about the band below and listen to an audio clip by clicking on the top right-hand link.

The New Highs are from Maidenhead and consists of Adam Worman (lead vocals), Simon Fabb (lead guitar), Noel Wood (drums), Neil Ackroyd (bass) and Chris Moriarty (guitar).

The New Highs started in the late summer of 04 when Simon met up with Noel for some jamming sessions, working on material he had put together. Soon Adam was on board as front man bringing along his wealth of material to the table. Chris was enlisted having played in a previous band with Adam and Noels brother played bass. We then started to work on the material we had which had a very strong riff driven rock feel. Unfortunately things didn’t work out with Noel’s brother and Neil was brought in during December 04 completing the current line up.

Since then things have moved very quickly. We have had a couple of gigs in Maidenhead which has generated a strong home support. This fantastic set of people have also made the journey into London helping us towards the Emergenza Battle of the Bands UK final.

It is always difficult to label yourself with a specific sound but our influences include Oasis, Embrace and U2. This definitely shows in our material but we would like to think that there is something a little different in there as well.

We want to do well with our music and hope that we can start delivering it to a wider audience but first and foremost we want to have a good laugh while we do it. This attitude also comes through in our live performance which is where we enjoy ourselves the most.

We are currently putting the finishing touches on an EP and eventually an album. If you would like to join our mailing list and receive New Highs information you can email us at the_new_highs@yahoo.co.uk

I saw the New Highs at the Emergenza Battle of the Bands UK final and thought the vocals sucked, you guys need a new front man quick and some new material other than re-writing Wonderwall!
