Making Slough Happy: Would you like to take part in a new BBC2 series about the science of happiness? Scientists have been studying happiness for decades and startling new evidence has shown that over the last 20 years despite a substantial rise in their income the proportion of UK citizens deemed to be 'happy' has increased only slightly. Optimists live longer than pessimists and this latest research suggests that by making a few simple changes to your life anyone can become happier and more content. This summer, in one of the most ambitious social experiments ever conducted on television, the new BBC 2 series ‘Making Slough Happy’ will set out to prove the evidence is fact not fiction and document how a skilled team of happiness experts attempt to bring sunshine to Slough. Over the next four months camera crews throughout the town will be filming 50 (local & averagely happy) volunteers as they attempt to transform their lives for the better. Working closely with the team of specialist happiness experts the lucky 'Slough 50' will receive advice and coaching to improve their satisfaction and well-being in the key 'life areas' of work, love, family and friends and health. With the happiness levels of participants being scientifically measured throughout, the series will culminate in August when the last episode will reveal if the expert's advice and help has succeeded in making their volunteers happier. With a range of community events taking place throughout the whole town everyone will be encouraged to get involved to make 2005 Slough’s Happiest Summer Ever! With summer fast approaching and filming due to start in May, the production team are currently looking for a wide range of volunteer's to take part and become members of the 'Slough 50.' So if you live in the Slough area and would like the chance to receive professional help and advice to improve the quality of your life, please get in touch.
