ROYAL WEDDING: Parking and roads closed

If you've got to be anywhere near Windsor on Saturday 9th April, check our guide to where and where not to go...

Following the announcement that the wedding of Prince Charles and Mrs Camilla Parker Bowles has been changed to Saturday April 9, the Royal Borough has issued revised information about car parking and road closure arrangements.

The agreed timings for Friday will now be used on Saturday instead, as follows:

• The royal couple and their guests will travel from Windsor Castle to the Guildhall via Cambridge Gate, Park Street and High Street (route reversed for the return journey).
• These and surrounding roads (including Thames Street and Sheet Street) will be closed off and all vehicles must be removed from the area by midnight on Friday April 8.  Prominent signs giving details of the closures will be displayed.
• As usual for royal and civic events, the council is making sure that alternative free parking is available in the nearby Victoria Street car park for all vehicles displaying Royal Borough residents’ parking permits from 6pm on April 8 until 9am on Sunday April 10.
• No traffic will be allowed into central Windsor from 7.30am on April 9, including delivery vehicles, buses and taxis.  Businesses are advised to make alternative delivery arrangements for the day.  Roads are not expected to re-open until mid-afternoon.
• Business waste for collection must be put out no later than 6.30am on Saturday April 9.
